Position Summary

Contract: 12 month maternity cover

The Womens Wovens Designer focuses on all soft wovens categories for the womens mainline collection with emphasis on dresses and soft woven separates from day through to occasion wear.

The ideal designer will have luxury or contemporary experience designing womens soft wovens demonstrating a flair for sassiness, commerciality and innovation often inspired by vintage pieces.

Main Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the head of design and creative director on direction for the forthcoming season.
  • Initial research including global travel for research, sourcing and development trips.
  • Sourcing and development of fabric and trims working closely with the fabric team.
  • Development of seasonal colour palettes with the team.
  • Range planning working closely with the buying and merchandising teams to ensure the collection is well coordinated and balanced and meets the requirements of the global stores and concessions.
  • Design of original pieces inspired by the seasonal theme demonstrating a strong eye for commerciality, fit and detail.
  • Presentation of the collection at all stages of development.
  • Collaboration with the in-house sample room team on initial developments.
  • Attend fit sessions with technologists as required.
  • Ensure critical path deadlines are maintained.

Essential Skills

  • Womenswear Designer or Senior Womenswear Designer with at least 5 years INTERNATIONAL LUXURY or CONTEMPORARY brand experience.
  • Your natural design handwriting should be sassy, commercial and innovative with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to develop vintage inspired designs aligned with the runway for the global market place.
  • Excellent hand drawing and illustration skills demonstrated through a strong portfolio.
  • Polished presentation skills with the ability to present to senior management team.
  • Experience in prioritising work to meet critical path deadlines.
  • Excellent understanding of garment construction techniques.
