Position Summary

As Creative Print Manager you will be responsible for heading up a fast fashion in-house print team managing and working hand-in-hand with a team of two print designers on the creation of all over prints for high street customers. This close knit print team produces around 15 new all-over prints and colourways every 2 weeks inspired by original ideas and bought prints.

This role will suit a Senior Print Designer or Print Design Manager with an affinity for feminine florals and experience in the creation of prints for the UK high street demonstrating a comprehensive portfolio showcasing all the key print categories including ditsies, geometrics, abstracts, conversationals, florals and animal prints, etc.

Main Responsibilities

  • Produce 15 new print designs every 2 weeks offering newness with the objective of being first to market each season.
  • Develop thorough, authoritative research and mood boards inspired by the catwalk, blogs, modern culture, vintage fashion and competitor analysis to gain a wide understanding of current markets.
  • Travel to trade fairs, key cities and markets for inspiration.
  • Interpretation of trends demonstrating a broad eye for commercial high street prints as well as elevated statement pieces.
  • Work closely with the womenswear designers and customers to interpret each brief collaborating on ideas and direction.
  • Attend customer meetings with the confidence to present at all levels.
  • Lead inclusive and open daily meetings with the team to discuss priorities and share ideas.
  • Design and development of all-over prints by hand and using Photoshop and Illustrator to create trend based print ranges.
  • Source bought prints from external Design Studios building up relationships and knowledge of different print handwriting in order to bring the sampling process together to elevate the product.
  • Execution of repeats, half drops and colourways.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of colour, fabric and print techniques.
  • Artworking for all print designs following through to strike-off/final artwork approval.
  • Development trips to Turkey to put prints and fabrics into work.
  • Manage the print critical path to ensure prints are delivered on time.
  • Oversee and maintain the print department budget including hanger swatches bought, sampling ordered, etc.
  • Maintain a tidy department, implementing a clean and organised environment to work in.

Essential Skills

  • Degree in Textiles Design specialising in Womenswear.
  • Senior Print Designer or Head Print Designer with at least 5 years’ experience designing/sourcing directional prints specialising in womens UK high street fashion.
  • Advanced trend awareness able to identify up and coming trends and translate for the high street.
  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Experience in executing the print design and development lifecycle.
  • Experience managing a small a team, department budget and critical path.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload.
  • Confidence in presenting at all levels.
  • Initiative, innovative and collaborative.
  • Good knowledge of mills, print agencies and fabric bases.
