Position Summary

The Accessories Designer is responsible for contributing to the creative vision of the brand, creating handbags and small leather goods that are commercially successful whilst helping to drive the aesthetic of this highly successful luxury brand. The role reports into the Head of Design.

The ideal candidate will a proven track record in the design of Luxury Accessories with emphasis on handbags and be motivated by the opportunity of joining an established luxury label where you will have the opportunity to make a significant creative contribution.

This highly successful luxury brand specializes in Women’s Accessories. The collections are inspired by one of the fashion industry’s leading creative directors who has stamped her mark with a modern aesthetic and signature hardware.

Main Responsibilities

  • Design product that conforms to the range plan and creative vision for the season, and in line with brand values.
  • Design across all accessories, handbags, slgs, and key rings.
  • Research into season’s creative direction.
  • Liaise closely throughout the season with the product development team to ensure all designs are developed to spec and in line with the critical path.
  • Produce technical sketches, mock-ups, specs that the factory can follow in order to produce a prototype or salpa.
  • Along with the Head of Design & Creative, lead the material and leather research that conforms to the creative vision and range plan.
  • Ensure all protos/samples are delivered on time and signed off by Head of Design.
  • Ensure all signed off product is commercial and in line with the range plan.
  • Answer any technical queries from factories and support the Product Development team.
  • Manage seasonal freelance art workers.
  • Direct and manage a team of two.
  • Seasonal travel for sourcing and development.

Essential Skills

  • Accessories Designer with at least 3 years experience designing handbags for a luxury brand.
  • An inspiring creative with a passion for accessories.
  • A good understanding of leathers, bag construction and hardware.
  • Previous experience at a luxury accessories fashion brand, within a brand that shows preferable.
  • Previous experience of working with factories and tanneries in Italy and Europe.
  • Excellent problem solving attitude coupled with tenacious drive to achieve results.
  • Italian language skills an advantage but not essential.
