Position Summary

Product: Womens Soft Separates & Dresses

As Freelance Designer you will be working across womens soft separates and dresses with emphasis on designing young fashion ranges that reflect the latest catwalk and trend influences for the season. We are ideally looking for a freelance designer with recent experience in the young fashion market working for suppliers, retailers or a combo of the two and happy to assist in creating new ranges and driving new business opportunities.

Main Responsibilities

  • Seasonal research: trend predictions, catwalk, competitor market, vintage and modern culture.
  • Identify and promote ‘must have’ styles for the season that reflect key trend influences.
  • Accurate execution of design briefs in line with customer requirements.
  • Attend buying meetings and collaborate with buyers on range requirements helping to drive new business.
  • Fabric and trim selection.
  • Work with and brief in-house print team.
  • Create design packs ensuring all information is detailed and accurate.
  • Monitor sample progress, liaising with the pattern room and production department.
  • Attend sample fittings as required.

Essential Skills

  • Educated to Degree standard in Fashion Design Womenswear.
  • Proven track record in the design of womens soft separates and dresses for the young fashion market.
  • Proficient use of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • High level of trend awareness with a good understanding of retail fashion.
  • Sound commercial knowledge of fabric sourcing and print selection.
  • Good understanding of garment construction.
  • Ability to work effectively to critical path deadlines.
  • Highly organised and able to prioritise workload.

We have an exciting new design role that has just landed in our laps for you. We are now recruiting for a Jersey & Print designer.

As a womenswear Jersey & Print Designer you would be responsible for the design of trend inspired shapes and prints for womens young fashion jersey separates including placement prints, all-over prints and licensed music imagery. This role has been created to drive and develop the fashion jersey business with festival fashion in mind, encompassing great fashion prints.

The ideal designer will have a directional fashion handwriting specialising in both jersey and print for the young fashion market.
