Position Summary

As Garment Technologist you will be responsible for ensuring the Womens RTW product meets commercial expectations for fit, sizing, fabric, trims, quality and consistency working work closely with both the product development and production teams. Reporting into the Product Development Manager.

The ideal Garment Technologist will have at least 4 years experience in Garment Technology including luxury brand experience encompassing multi-product Womenswear.

Main Responsibilities

  • Maintain standard measurements records for all garment types.
  • Along with the Studio Manager ensure all patterns are clear and consistent against the sample.
  • Measure all samples to ensure they conform to the size specifications.
  • Flag any variance in sizes prior to fit meeting and ensure pattern is amended where appropriate.
  • Attend all Development Fittings to ensure sample conforms to the Designer’s vision and is of the correct quality.
  • Track all Development fit notes ensuring comments are accurately executed by all relevant parties.
  • Ensure all make comments and QC comments are fed back to the factories to ensure any future sample reflects the changes made.
  • Support the factories in the UK, Italy and Europe to resolve make or construction queries on specific garments.
  • Maintain sewing rules and make standards to ensure the factory understands brand expectations.
  • Along with the Senior Product Developer, visit new factories and assess suitability for sampling.
  • Working with the Studio Manager to help coordinate the creation of all in-house samples for both the runway and commercial collections, keeping track of all changes.
  • Responsible for the creation of the Measurement sheet and the Make comments section within the Product specification books from creation to production handover working with PDM and design team, ensuring that all data is up-to-date and correct, tracking any changes.
  • Responsible for reporting quality issues in construction to the relevant supplier and assist the PD Manager in negotiating production CMT prices.
  • Ensure all garments are sealed prior to the Handover to production.

Essential Skills

  • Garment Technologist with at least 4 years experience including womens luxury fashion.
  • Either a technical qualification or experience dealing with technical.
  • Experience working with CMT factories and runway fashion desirable.
  • An understanding of digital printing and complex garment construction.
  • Tenacious, assertive and determined attitude with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good negotiation and problem solving skills.
  • Positive team player with clear and concise communication skills.
