Position Summary

As Head of Womens Accessories & Footwear you will lead a small design team in the design and development of a unique collection of highly desirable pieces that form a commercially balanced collection to complement the womens mainline and premium collections.

The ideal candidate will be a senior footwear designer or head designer with a contemporary and/or luxury footwear background including experience in the design of formal footwear, range planning, sourcing of leather and hardware and margin awareness working with factories in Europe and the Far East.

Main Responsibilities

  • Conceive the design of a footwear collection unique to the brand comprising highly desirable ‘must have’ pieces that cannot be found elsewhere and drive the same philosophy across handbags, SLGs and jewellery.
  • Range planning, working closely with the womenswear design team and merchandising to ensure the collection is on brand, well coordinated and compliments a sophisticated clothing collection.
  • Manage the critical path for design from concept through to development.
  • Seasonal research, sourcing and development trips.
  • Sourcing and development of raw materials and hardware working with the development team.
  • Development of seasonal colour palettes in conjunction with womenswear.
  • Present the collection at all stages to the senior management team and creative director.
  • Ensure the accurate execution of design briefs at all stages of development.
  • Oversee the creation of technical packs for factories ensuring all essential information.
  • Regular travel to global factory base for sample development including the Far East, - Spain, Portugal and India.
  • Managing a team of 2 designers across footwear and accessories.

Essential Skills

  • Senior Footwear Designer or Head Designer with contemporary or luxury brand experience.
  • Experience managing the design of both Accessories and Footwear.
  • Natural design handwriting should be edgy, innovative and yet commercial.
  • Experience designing womenswear formal footwear is essential.
  • Experience working with both European and Far East factories.
  • Strong technical knowledge in footwear construction.
  • Excellent hand drawing and illustration skills demonstrated through a strong portfolio.
  • Confident to present to the senior management team.
  • Diplomatic and able to work in harmony with all team members.
  • Experience working effectively to tight deadlines.

As a womenswear Jersey & Print Designer you would be responsible for the design of trend inspired shapes and prints for womens young fashion jersey separates including placement prints, all-over prints and licensed music imagery. This role has been created to drive and develop the fashion jersey business with festival fashion in mind, encompassing great fashion prints.

The ideal designer will have a directional fashion handwriting specialising in both jersey and print for the young fashion market.
